What: The Global Day of Prayer is a world-wide celebration centered around Pentecost Sunday. The mission of this celebration is to unite the global body of Christ, to seek God for revival, intercede on behalf of our world, and collaborate for the blessing and transformation of our cultures.

History: GDOP came out of a vision given to a South African businessman, who called thousands of Africans to prayer and repentance for their nation. Since then it has spread to the rest of the Globe, and Millions of Christians in over 214 nations, and all six inhabited continent of the Globe!

IMAGINE a day where millions of believers gather together in prayer and repentance, crying out to God to extend his kingdom, transform our world, and fill the nations with the GLORY & FAME of his NAME! That is what Global Day of prayer is about!

Local Participation: Four years ago the at the yearly Senior Pastors Prayer Summit, Church Leaders Network  (CLN) pastors of Santa Cruz County heard in prayer that they were to gather together for a joint prayer and worship event. Together we chose to do this on the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP)

Why: Out of obedience to Christ’s prayer to the Father in John 17, We what to see believers in all traditions and streams who affirm the essential doctrines of the historic Christian Faith, join together and DECLARE and DEMONSTRATE our unity in Christ and the Faith once delivered unto the saints. Jesus said he desired all the believers would be “one” so that the world would “know and believe that the father sent the son.” Our unity around Jesus Christ comes before all racial, social, geographic, national and secondary theological barriers.

Theme: “In the Darkest Places, Jesus Go!”

Theme Verse: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.’” Revelations 11:15
